Port Balchik is the sea gate of Dobrudza, one of the biggest productive regions for grain in Bulgaria. Port Balchik is situated in Balchik Bay, 40 km to the north from Varna. The coastline exposure of the terminal is southern. The territory of the terminal is 11 338 m². /the total territory is 13 514 m², including the breakwater area.

Port terminal Balchik is multipurpose port which is equipped with modern facilities. It is a specialised terminal for handling general cargo, as well, as dry and liquid bulk. The port terminal is operational 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. The major turnover of the port is based on handling bulk cargo, mainly grain.

Since May, 25, 2006 "Port Balchik" Plc is concessionary of the Port terminal Balchik for period of 25 years.

"Port Balchik" Plc, as a port operator of port terminal Balchik, follows the policy of regular continuous investments in modernization, technological renovation and development and improvement of the working conditions. Port terminal Balchik possesses an ISO 9001:2000 Certificate and it is one of the first Black Sea ports that was certificated according to the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code).

Port terminal Balchik has in disposal two berths with total length 164 m and has a possibility to receive 2 ships at the same time. The port terminal has been built on reclaimed area behind the breakwater where all cargo handling equipment and office buildings are placed. The quay wall is bounding the open storage areas of 4200 м2 to the west.

The maximum allowed draught is 8.0m. With the usage of the 2 new “Fentek” fenders the safe draught of the terminal could be increased. The superstructure of the berth wall is 2,2 m high over the average water rate.
